International students applying for semester study abroad (SSA) programmes are required to make applications, in the first instance, to the University of Cape Town through the International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO). An additional application and portfolio submission has to Tbe sent to the Michaelis School of Fine Art. Third year printmaking students were recently involved in the production of a 'performed print portfolio', IN TRANSIT at the Bell-Roberts Gallery in Woodstock. As part of the PRINT08 exhibition, Jessica Ellis, Lorin Galloway, Jody Paulsen, Katherine Pichulik, Naledi Segokgo and Chris Swift were paired with six students from Department of Visual Arts, University of Stellenbosch. Applications to participate in the Stephen Shore Masterclass are invited from all practicing photographers. A two-day workshop with Stephen Shore will be hosted on the 15th and 16th of October 2008 at the Michaelis School of Fine Art in partnership with the Roger Ballen Foundation. Additional sponsorship is provided by the US Consulate General in Cape Town. All sections in the School are serviced by support staff members that have acquired unique skills derived mostly through in-house training. A number of academic staff members are also responsible for overseeing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered at the school.
